Welcome to the Civil Service Cricket Club web site. We are one of Ireland's oldest cricket clubs. Formed in 1863 in the Phoenix Park, the club is part of the Leinster Cricket Union and currently boasts over 40 members.

Our players are drawn not just from Ireland but from all the major cricketing nations including Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan and England. Read more about the club in the About Us section ...

Race Night - Saturday August 30th Race Night - Saturday August 30th

A Race Night will be held in the Clubhouse on Saturday August 30th at 7.30 to help raise funds for the Club.

Get in touch with Tony by emailing him here about buying a horse, jockey or owner or sponsoring a race. Prices are as follows:

  • Buy a horse, jockey or owner individually for €10 each
  • Buy a combination of all 3 (horse, jockey & owner) for €25
  • Sponsor a race for €50
  • Buy a half page advertisement for €50
  • Buy a full page advertisement for €100

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Weekend Roundup (25th August 2008)
The Firsts matches on both Wednesday against Old Belvedere and Saturday away to Phoenix were cancelled due to the weather. The Seconds lost against Malahide in a refixed game in Malahide last Thursday and lost by 2 wickets against Leinster in St. Columbas on Sunday after batting first and scoring 165. Having had their match against Railway Union on Saturday cancelled due to the weather, the Fourths failed to chase 55 for the second time this year when they were all out for 46 against Avondale in the Park on Sunday.

Weekend Roundup (19th August 2008)
Only the Fourths get a game in this week with a reduced overs game in Bird Avenue against Merrion in the Merrion Cup Semi-Final. Merrion batted first and were all out for 88 in 29 overs and Service were left to rue some dropped catches managing only 60 in reply. The Thirds match against Balbriggan and the Seconds match against Sandyford were both postponed.

Weekend Roundup (12th August 2008)
Nothing to report this week, with the weather curtailing any possibility of cricket being played. The Fourths Minor Cup semi-final against Merrion has been rearranged for this coming Sunday the 17th.

Weekend Roundup (5th August 2008)

Mixed fortunes for the club this week, with the Fourths winning on Sunday and the Thirds losing on Monday. On Sunday, the Fourths won by 30 runs, scoring 207 for 3 (Shabi 76*, Phil 61*, Ciaran 28). North Wicklow scored 177 for 4 in reply (Neil 2/28, Stephen 2/36). The Thirds lost by 6 wickets against North Kildare. Batting first Service scored 95/9 off their 40 overs (Dave 18, Sanjay 15, Gerry 10). North Wicklow took 28 overs to reach the total, losing 4 wickets along the way (Kiran 3/20). The Firsts match against Rush in Rush was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, as was the Thirds match on Saturday against Bagnelstown.

4ths beat Merrion 8 by 9 wickets (31st July 2008)

The 4ths beat Merrion by 9 wickets at Bird Avenue today. Merrion batted first on a damp mat and scored 57 with Gause the pick of the bowlers claiming 5, with Kiran Shenoy and Raj picking up a couple each. Shabi claimed 2 fine catches. After "Sandyford Gate" the skippers instructions were to bat sensibly. Gause and Ciaran put on an opening stand of 54 before the skipper flashed at a full toss and was bowled. Gause hit the winning runs in the 13th over to finish on 31.

Firsts beat Balbriggan by 121 runs away from home (28th July 2008)

The First Team beat Balbriggan by 121 runs in Balbriggan on Sunday. Stevo top scored with 54 runs and Gourav batted very sensibly for 37. Balbriggan could only manage 75 in reply, with Buts, Mubby and D getting 3 wickets apiece.

Weekend Roundup - 28th July 2008 (28th July 2008)

This Firsts beat Balbriggan by 121 runs, Stevo top scoring with 54 runs and 3 wickets apiece for Buts, Mubby and D. The Seconds lost against North Kildare by 6 wickets, with Asim scoring a brilliant 100 not out - hitting 16 runs off the last over to reach 3 figures. The Fourths were beaten by Merrion by 42 runs, Phil Green grabbing 4 wickets and Clarkey top scoring with 29.
